Ultimately unknown. He seemingly appears in a story at random, interacts with the characters or moves the plot along, before vanishing. He also has some kind of exterior info on the events of the story.

Unscrewed Audio Files – Audio Log #017[]
Appearing as a ghoul, he accidentally shoots at Screwloose. It hits The Recorder causing to to once again be broken resulting in the second completely corrupt recording (Audio Log #018). He fixes it for her somehow allowing a cross-temporal conversation between Pinkie Pie and Screwloose in Audio Log #019.
Brittleshine's Quest Audio Files – A Honest Interlude/Audio Log #007[]
He got a message to DJ Pon3 to tell to Brittleshine over the airwaves in "A Honest Interlude" that Brittlehears in Audio Log #007 just before entering Losttail Woods. The Message was “Trust not the woods that is still aglow” . It was confusing statement, but caused Brittle to question the visions she was seeing in the woods. It also foreshadowed the alter-ego of Static Spark, her imaginary friend Aglow.
Hold the Pineapple – Audio Log #007[]
This is his longest and most talkative appearance. He fixes Pineapple Calzone's bowtie recorder after it is waterlogged in Audio Log #006. He mentions having to fix another recorder and how if he hopes to not have to fix another one for the rest of eternity (possibley referencing fixing Screwloose's recorder). He formally introduces himself for the first time in the Audio Files series, but notes it is not time to tell his story.
He cryptically musses on Pineapple's role in things after correctly giving the MoM code phrase Pineapple set up with Pumpkin Cake. It is unclear how he knows it, he may have just listened to the recordings held in the tie. He also cryptically mentions a specified path that can't be strayed from as if he knows the outcome of the war. Its possible he works with Pinkie directly and is aware of her predictions. He is also confident that Pineapple with eighty-six his role. Referencing Pineapple's fear of the mysterious Eighty-Six, the Calzone Crime Family assassin.
Before leaving he ponders how the earthpony Pineapple can use magic and that he is off to "send a DJ a message." (possibly referring to his message to Brittleshine).
