Pony

Ponies are a highly-developed species of sapient, four-legged ungulate mammals, distinguishable from other equine species by their multicolored coats and manes and the picturesque cutie mark that appears on their haunches when they become of age. The pony species can be further subdivided into four natural races: earth pony, pegasus, unicorn, and alicorn.

Ponies are one of the most influential species in history. At the apex of their civilization's existence, they were known to have established a powerful nation, Equestria, whose territories included much of the known world. Equestria was a belligerent in the Great War against a zebra empire, and was thus partially responsible for the megaspell apocalypse that befell the Equestrian Wasteland and potentially the entire world.

Earth Pony

Content in this section is linked to content from Earth Pony. Please edit that page to modify this section.

Earth Ponies are a race of pony that has neither wings nor horns, and thus do not exercise any overt magical ability. Instead, earth ponies generally exhibit more stamina, fortitude, and durability than the other two races. Their inherent magical ability involves an underlying connection to the earth and the environment, one that is passive and less overt than other forms of magic. Their lack of magical ability also drives them to seek more innovative solutions to their problems, generally making them more industrious and inventive.

Unicorn

Content in this section is linked to content from Unicorn. Please edit that page to modify this section.

Unicorns are a race of pony that have the unique ability to directly wield, channel, and manipulate magic. This ability is powered by a single horn of variable length, texture, and color on their forehead, which also serves as the sole distinguishing anatomical feature of unicorns compared to other pony races.

Pegasus

Content in this section is linked to content from Pegasus Pony. Please edit that page to modify this section.

Pegasus ponies (singular: "pegasus", plural: "pegasi") are a race of pony that have the unique ability to fly and magically control the weather. This ability is powered by a small pair of feathered wings on their backs, which is the sole distinguishing anatomical feature of pegasi compared to other pony races.

Alicorn

Content in this section is linked to content from Alicorn. Please edit that page to modify this section.

Alicorns are a race of pony that possess all three distinguishing features of the other pony races: the horn of a unicorn, the wings of a pegasus, and the fortitude of an earth pony. As such, this also grants them access to the inherent magical abilities of all three races: a unicorn's ability to directly control magic, a pegasus' ability to fly and manipulate weather, and an earth pony's natural affinity to the earth. Prior to the war, alicorns were considered goddesses, and the only two known alicorns were Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Alicorns often travel in groups of three called "wings".

Zony

A Pony and Zebra hybrid. Created when a Pony and Zebra have an offspring.

Zebra

Zebras are a highly-developed species of sapient, four-legged ungulate mammals. They are distinguishable by the unique black-and-white stripes that adorn their coats and the glyph-like Cutie Mark that adorns their haunch.

Zebras are one of the most influential species in history, and, at the apex of their civilization's existence, had established a powerful industrialized empire. The most notable zebra nation, an unnamed zebra empire, was a belligerent in the Great War against the pony nation of Equestria, and was thus partially responsible for the megaspell apocalypse that befell the Equestrian Wasteland and potentially the entire world.

Dragon

Content in this section is linked to content from Dragon. Please edit that page to modify this section.

Dragons are a highly-intelligent but mostly nomadic species of large, winged, serpent-like sentient creatures. They range significantly in size, and can be anywhere from a foot at youth to several dozen meters in late adulthood. Their bodies are covered in scales, which can be a wide variety of possible colors. Unlike most mortal creatures, dragons can have lifespans lasting centuries.

Prior to the Great War, dragons had no real alignment nor organized society, and most merely roamed around the land in search of places to reside and store their hoards, only occasionally being spotted within the borders of the pony nation of Equestria. During the Great War, many dragons were persuaded to fight for the zebra empire against Equestria.

Hellhound

Hellhounds are an intelligent species of sentient, bipedal canines. They have sharp, powerful claws typically used to tunnel through earth and solid concrete. They are the highly evolved descendants of diamond dogs, having been mutated over two centuries by megaspell radiation.

Brahmin

Brahmin are the mutated descendants of Equestrian cattle. After the megaspells, many cows managed to survive the apocalypse. The survivors of post apocalyptic equestria now have two heads. Both heads have been shown as having personalities in numerous side stories. Brahmin can be found in the employ of merchants across Equestria, acting as pack mules or other occupations.

Griffins (or Griffons) are a well-developed sapient hybrid species. They are a hybrid of an eagle and a lion, they use their talons to grip weapons and have been shown to have flexible tails that they can use like a talon to grip objects.

The Griffins within the Equestrian Wasteland are proud mercenaries, after their kingdom got raided for resources by the Enclave.

History

Before the War

The only Griffin mentioned before the war is Gilda, an old friend of Rainbow Dash.

During the War

It is stated that the Mane 6 were sent as envoys for Equestria to the Griffin Kingdom. Griffins were used as mercenaries during the war; they fought on the ponies' side (according to Rainbow Dash) during a conversation she had with Applejack and Rarity

In a voice recording left behind by Rainbow Dash, it is revealed that Gilda was hired as a mercenary to kill her by the Pegasi.

After the War

After the Great War, the Griffins were still employed as mercenaries across the Equestrian Wasteland. Red Eye has a number of Griffins under his employ since the Goddess' plan involved wiping them out.

The Griffon mercenaries are known collectively as Talons. The type of work they do varies from company to company; Gawds Talons are less willing to take on jobs that will harm innocents whilst Stern's are more than happy to do such work.

The Griffin Kingdom was raided by The Grand Pegasi Enclave for resources after they closed up the sky and mined their own resources above the sky dry.
