Spare Parts is a maintenance pony in Stable X. She is an important side character in the radioplay series Terminal Secrets. She mainly features in episodes 2-4. Her story can be heard HERE.
Biography[]
Spare Parts is a longtime friend of Butterfly Stitch and one of the few shoulders she can reliably lean on when dealing with the events of Stable 81.
She works down in the lower mechanical levels of Stable X, helping to keep all of the larger equipment such as HVAC systems, water pumps, and power supply running smoothly. She also works with some of the components of the Crusader Maneframe. This is how she discovers that STELLA is not listed in Stable-Tec's official records, for "security reasons."
While Butterfly grew increasingly disillusioned with the nature of the Stable-Tec experiments, Spare Parts saw the work they did as unavoidable. They had to keep doing the jobs they were assigned or they would be thrown out of the stable into the radioactive death and horrors of the wasteland.
Spare Parts had a much more playful nature than Butterfly even disregarding their life circumstances. She was often the one keeping Blueball around and connecting their friendships into a group of 3.
While Butterfly Stitch and Blueball are in the process of analyzing Stable 50, Spare Parts gets summoned to their analysis chamber by STELLA. It is the first time the two of them have ever spoken.
In that conversation, STELLA was surprisingly candid. She explained a great deal about her creator, Doctor Fractal, and her creation before the war. As an AI, one of the main ways she was able to learn was with a second personality that had been attached to her, forming a bicameral mind of sorts.
Eventually Spare Parts asked what any of this had to do with her. STELLA told her that the second personality is becoming increasingly hostile and that she wanted it to be removed. Spare Parts agrees to do so and gets to work.
Her work would be cut short not long after.
